Day 79 – Physical Therapy Starts

I made an appointment with the same physical therapist (PT) Noah saw when he was a baby.  Upon seeing Ami, she said Ami did not seem to have torticollis (wry neck), and that her head shape looked fine.  No problem was found in the range of motion of her neck, but she said she felt just a little tightness when she turned Ami’s head left.  So she recommended 15-second neck stretches on both sides once a day.

One of the interesting things she said was that we should not give her the neck stretch before tummy time.  When we think of a stretch, it is something to do before exercise.  However, for a baby of this age whose body is so flexible, it should be given after a tummy time.

She showed a little concern about Ami’s muscle tone, because she was not able to lift her head when on tummy.  But she said Ami should become stronger as she gains more weight.  So I was a little reassured and also determined again to focus on giving her more calories.
